“Here at Waymark IT we fully appreciate the difficulties students face in trying to differentiate themselves when they are applying for university places or jobs. We are hoping that by completing this placement scheme the students involved will have gained some useful insights into how to run a business and manage projects, as well as having something tangible to discuss when they are in interviews.”

In addition to the practical day to day management of a business, the students will be given assistance in developing a mobile application of their choice, from initial inception through to selling the app in the market place. They will compile a portfolio throughout this process which will contribute to their formal qualification.

The students were given some initial instructions on what to consider when researching the apps they would like to develop and then asked to present their ideas to their course leaders and Waymark IT staff using PowerPoint on a large touch screen display. Managing Director, David Brophy of Waymark IT said:

“We couldn’t believe the time and effort all the students had put into researching the apps they would like to develop as well as the quality of their presentations. We had envisaged selecting one app for them to jointly develop but it looks as though they will all be able to develop their own individual ideas”.
